Kathie Lee Gifford Lists Her $100 Million Connecticut Estate After 32 Years — The Heartbreaking Memories Behind Her Move

Posted on October 26, 2026 By wpx_

Kathie Lee Gifford is preparing to leave behind a home that holds 32 years of family celebrations, unforgettable friendships, and memories of her late husband, Frank Gifford. The television personality has listed Cedar Cliff, her spectacular waterfront estate in Riverside, Connecticut, for an extraordinary $100 million, bringing renewed attention to a property she once fiercely protected from public scrutiny. Purchased in 1994 for approximately $7.8 million, the nearly three-acre estate features an expansive Mediterranean-style residence, eight bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, a swimming pool, a tennis court, and a private dock overlooking Long Island Sound. Inside, however, it is the traditional furniture, patterned fabrics, and personal decorations that have sparked the most discussion online. While some admirers appreciate the home’s warm, lived-in atmosphere, others have questioned whether its interiors match the enormous asking price. Yet behind the photographs and criticism lies a much more personal reason for Kathie Lee’s decision to move on.

For years, Cedar Cliff was the center of life for Kathie Lee, Frank, and their children, Cody and Cassidy. The couple expanded and renovated the property, eventually adding a three-story wing with a luxurious primary suite, an office, a wine cellar, a movie theater, and a professional recording studio. Their home also became a gathering place for famous friends, including Dolly Parton, Kenny Loggins, Neil Sedaka, and Kevin Costner, with casual visits sometimes turning into impromptu musical evenings. But everything changed when Frank died in August 2015 at age 84. Kathie Lee later revealed that he passed away in the home’s sunroom, making the property inseparable from one of the most painful moments of her life. As her children grew up and started families of their own, the once-busy house became increasingly quiet. Eventually, she explained that the music had gone out of her world, leaving a difficult question about whether she could ever feel at home there again.

Kathie Lee’s decision to sell is about far more than the financial value of a luxury estate. She has described pouring her heart, soul, and decades of work into the property, transforming it into a place that reflected her family’s life together. Although a real estate transaction involving a $100 million asking price requires careful consideration of property values, negotiations, and legal details, no attorney, insurance policy, or investment calculation can measure the emotional significance of a home. The Connecticut property also remained connected to the family’s happiest milestones. In 2020, Cody married Erika Brown there, turning the place where he had grown up into the setting for another important chapter. After Kathie Lee moved to Tennessee, Cody and Erika lived at Cedar Cliff with their growing family, giving the home a new generation of memories. Still, the passage of time and the loss of Frank had changed what the estate meant to Kathie Lee, regardless of its financial worth or the condition of its mortgage.

Her life in Nashville has offered a different pace, with more opportunities to enjoy music, spend time with loved ones, and pursue creative projects away from daily television appearances. The transition has not been without challenges: in 2024, while recovering from hip replacement surgery, Kathie Lee fell down the stairs while hurrying to help a friend locked outside in the summer heat. She fractured her pelvis in two places and spent about a week in the hospital before gradually recovering. Today, her Tennessee home represents a quieter chapter, while the Connecticut estate remains a powerful reminder of the family she and Frank built together. Whoever eventually purchases Cedar Cliff may change the furniture, renovate its rooms, or admire the sunsets over Long Island Sound, but the memories created there will always belong to the Giffords. For Kathie Lee, leaving after 32 years is not simply the end of a real estate chapter; it is a chance to carry the love and memories forward without remaining surrounded by the silence left behind.
