I came home from work to find my eleven year old daughter Sophie in tears outside her bedroom. I contacted the veterinarian and the microchip company to report Sadie as stolen before turning to local community groups online. A stranger eventually sent me a screenshot of an advertisement listing Sadie for a large fee alongside a phone number that belonged to Gordon. I immediately contacted the buyer named Martha who was horrified to learn the truth and quickly agreed to return the dog. We met in a parking lot that afternoon where Sadie happily ran to us and Martha and Jim handed over the paperwork proving they had paid Gordon two thousand five hundred dollars.
Armed with undeniable proof I went straight to the local police station to file a formal report. Officer Green arrived at our house the next morning to inform my stunned in laws that selling stolen property carried serious legal consequences. Colin finally saw his parents clearly and firmly told them we were moving out because of their cruel deception. We relocated to our own peaceful apartment shortly after and left Brenda and Gordon to face the harsh reality of their actions.
