Fiona Lowe’s final months have taken on an even more emotional meaning as those who knew the 13-year-old continue sharing memories of the girl behind the headlines. Family friend Mykesha Robinson says Fiona had already endured a major upheaval before her death when the Lowe family lost its Pacific Palisades home in the January 2025 fire. Mykesha knew Fiona through her daughter Faith, who became close with Fiona at Palisades Charter Elementary School. She remembered Fiona as outgoing, warm, and the kind of child who would approach someone feeling left out and immediately make them feel included. Fiona was the middle daughter of Chad Lowe and Kim Painter, who also share Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10. But months before Fiona’s death, the family watched a place filled with years of memories disappear.
Mykesha recalled that Faith struggled to adjust when she first started school, until Fiona walked up and simply asked if she wanted to be friends and jump rope. From there, the girls became inseparable, with Mykesha describing them as “two peas in a pod.” Although they later attended different middle schools and gradually lost contact, the friendship remained meaningful to both families. Then came the Palisades Fire, which destroyed the Lowe family home and much of the school connected to Fiona’s childhood. Chad later posted images of his daughters returning to the ruined property wearing protective masks and shoe coverings, praising their strength. Mykesha, however, believed the disaster had affected Fiona deeply—and what happened afterward revealed just how much she was carrying.
Even after losing her home, Fiona returned to one of the strongest constants in her life: dance. Her teacher, Kendra Andrews, remembered Fiona walking back into the studio about a month after the fire with the same bright smile and warm hug she had always brought with her. Fiona kept rehearsing, refining her choreography between lessons, and eventually performed the routine she had worked so hard to perfect. There was no attorney, insurance settlement, mortgage dispute, investment fight, estate issue, or court battle at the center of the memories shared by those closest to her; instead, they focused on a teenager continuing to create after enormous loss. Kendra later posted videos of Fiona practicing to Taylor Swift’s “The Archer,” praising her passion and determination and describing the privilege of watching her grow.
Dance also became part of one of Fiona’s final public memories. In August, she shared an Instagram Reel showing herself dancing and wrote simply about enjoying the turns she had practiced the day before. At the time, there was nothing unusual or farewell-like about the post—it was simply a 13-year-old sharing something she loved. After her death, however, the video became a poignant reminder that Fiona’s story was larger than the tragedies surrounding her. Friends and community members remembered her as sweet, kind, quiet, and deeply artistic, while classmates struggled with her loss. Her grandfather, Chuck Lowe, later shared a photograph of Fiona swimming with the simple words, “Rest in peace, sweet Fiona.” For those who loved her, the lasting image was not of destruction or loss, but of a young girl still dancing, creating, and being remembered for the warmth she gave others.
