Carrie Underwood Traded Luxury for Country Living — Inside Her Stunning 400-Acre Tennessee Farm

Posted on November 8, 2026 By wpx_

A sprawling country estate, elegant interiors, and a garden filled with fresh produce might sound like a dream, but for Carrie Underwood, the biggest luxury eventually became something money couldn’t easily buy: privacy and a quieter family life. Before embracing farm chores, horses, and homegrown vegetables, the country music star shared a beautiful Italian-style villa in Brentwood, Tennessee, with her husband, former NHL player Mike Fisher. The three-story property featured four bedrooms, six bathrooms, a grand staircase, and an extraordinary dressing room connected by a spiral staircase. Purchased in 2007 for approximately $1.352 million, the home offered more than 7,000 square feet of elegant living space. Its marble finishes, fireplaces, landscaped terraces, and impressive kitchen reflected a glamorous lifestyle. But an unexpected accident outside the property in November 2017 would become a turning point in a much bigger decision.

Carrie was taking her dogs outside when she fell, breaking her wrist and sustaining facial injuries that required approximately 40 to 50 stitches. She later explained that she had simply missed a step while trying to catch herself. Her recovery required surgery and time away from public appearances, while she faced uncertainty about how her face would heal. Around the same period, reports described concerns about neighborhood privacy, including visitors being allowed into the gated community. The family eventually began preparing for a move, and in 2019, their Brentwood villa was listed for approximately $1.45 million. However, their next chapter had actually been taking shape for years. Carrie and Mike had been acquiring land in Franklin, Tennessee, beginning in 2011, with reported purchases totaling approximately $3.2 million. What they created there was far removed from their former neighborhood—and the property had some remarkable surprises.

Their new estate stretches across approximately 400 acres, featuring a custom-built home, horse facilities, multiple barns, a private lake, and extensive gardens. Inside, large windows, natural wood finishes, comfortable furniture, and spacious family areas create a welcoming atmosphere rather than an overly formal mansion. Carrie also maintained a generous walk-in closet, proving that country living didn’t mean giving up every luxury. Outside, however, the animals often steal the attention. The family cares for horses, sheep, cows, donkeys, chickens, and other farm animals, with Carrie frequently sharing moments feeding newborn lambs and tending to the property. Her gardening interests have become equally impressive. A 16-by-28-foot greenhouse allows her to grow vegetables, herbs, and fruit, while outdoor beds produce tomatoes, carrots, peppers, squash, and other seasonal favorites. The couple’s investment in the property extends beyond the main house, with barns, equipment storage, and land requiring ongoing maintenance, insurance, and careful estate planning. Despite her demanding music career and television commitments as an American Idol judge, Carrie continues finding time for the farm.

Today, the Tennessee property reflects a lifestyle built around family, nature, and everyday routines. Carrie has spoken about enjoying seasonal food, preserving homegrown produce, and preparing meals at home. She and Mike also make an effort to give their sons, Isaiah and Jacob, a childhood filled with ordinary experiences, from fishing by the lake to helping with farm activities. The contrast between her television appearances and muddy farm boots is something Carrie has joked about herself. When she travels for work, she enjoys the glamour of performing, but returning home means caring for animals, working in the garden, and spending time with her family. The former Brentwood villa offered impressive luxury, but the Franklin farm provides something different: room to grow, space to breathe, and a place where even a simple harvest can become a reason to celebrate.
